Following on from the initiative of the non-profit organization Lab00 during the most serious period of the recent health emergency, the SpesaSospesa.ORG project aims to collect food and basic necessities – donated by individuals and companies – and redistribute them to people in need. The complex logistics of this initiative are based on the Regusto platform, but obviously vehicles are needed that can manage collection and distribution operations in the area.

This is where CNH Industrial’s contribution becomes vital Through its IVECO brand, five Daily light commercial vehicles – three in the van version and two in the chassis cab version, one of which is fitted with a refrigerated body – were delivered today to SpesaSospesa.ORG. The vehicles have been rented free of charge to Emergency, Terre des Hommes, Caritas of PerugiaCittà della Pieve and Caritas of Alessandria, the four associations that will employ them in Alessandria, Milan, Naples, Perugia and Rome to manage the SpesaSospesa.ORG programme at a local level.

The ceremony to handover the keys took place at the headquarters of Officine Brennero, the Italian dealership owned by IVECO, from which the Daily vans departed for their humanitarian mission. Representatives of CNH Industrial, IVECO, Officine Brennero, Lab00, Regusto and the associations involved attended.

At the event, Daniela Ropolo, Head of CNH Industrial Sustainable Development Initiatives, commented: “Hunger is a violation of human dignity and an obstacle to social progress. Fighting hunger and recognizing the right to food are universal principles underpinning human rights. It is clear that we cannot hold such high values without taking a closer look at the entire system, for example by avoiding waste and remembering that about a third of the food produced is destroyed or wasted along the production-distribution chain. Thanks to the collaboration with Spesa Sospesa, we not only recognize the right to food, but we are solidly committed to ensuring that this right is protected and implemented”.

Davide Devenuto, President of Lab00, the non-profit organization of SpesaSospesa.ORG, said: “The decision to support SpesaSospesa.ORG by CNH Industrial – an international group present in many countries around the world – is, for us, a source of great pride and confirms that we are doing a lot and doing it well. We are certain that it will allow us to grow even faster, to expand the network of collaborations with our partners, and to reach and help even more families who are in a condition of economic fragility, while contributing to the fight against waste, and raising awareness towards the values of solidarity and sustainability”.
